Executive Director

Executive Director: Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition Founded in 2001, the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition (MTPC) is dedicated to ending discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression. The organization works to ensure persons of all genders are treated with respect and fully participate in all areas of society, free from fear of prohibition, harassment or violence based on their gender identity and/or expression. As executive director, I work to educate the public, advocate with state, local, and federal government, engage in activism, and encourage empowerment of community members through collective action. Co-Chair: Freedom Massachusetts Campaign Freedom Massachusetts is a bipartisan campaign created to work on transgender nondiscrimination protections in the 2015-2016 legislative session. The coalition brought together organizations, businesses, schools, congregations, and legislators to work on transgender rights. As co-chair of the coalition, I worked to ensure trans voices were central to the campaign. Additionally, I built coalitions between grassroots advocacy, business outreach, and legislative strategy. Adjunct Faculty: University of New Hampshire, Manchester As adjunct faculty in the Communications Department, I teach a course on LGBTQ Images and Perspectives in the Media and Advocacy. The course establishes a foundation for understanding the perspectives and images of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and gender nonconforming individuals, through history, politics, literature, and art. The class considers gender and sexuality through a historical and cultural lens, and discusses the ways the stories of LGBTQ people have been told, in a variety of mediums (art, literature, music, and poetry).
