This workshop will be an interactive discussion among participants and the facilitator on both the practical and mundane issues related to aging and the emotional, psychosocial, spiritual issues related to aging. Discussion will touch upon the unique challenges faced by those who came out and/or transitioned years ago, and for those who have come out and/or transitioned during their senior years. The goal is to assist those participants in valuing and honoring the aging process and to embrace the aging process proactively and effectively.

This workshop with Holly Herman DPT and Holly Cooper Kantor DPT will describe and answer your questions regarding how physical therapy can help people with issues of bladder, bowel, orthopedic and sexual function during transition, preoperative and post operative phases of their lives. Physical therapy can diminish pain, teach better binding and tucking methods, improve strength and range of motion, release scars and restrictions, instruct in dilation and promote exercise programs specific to individuals. The therapists will offer resources for finding physical therapists through out the New England region, books and websites. This is an interactive session, so, please bring your questions and concerns and let us share with you how to improve your function.
10:00A Navigating Health Care and Insurance for HIV Prevention and more Wellness Program Mr. George Hastie

Health care and insurance are complicated and challenging to navigate, even more so for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, who are are disproportionately affected by HIV. In this workshop we will share specific resources in Massachusetts for people at risk for HIV and living with HIV, give people (whatever your health status or issues) helpful pointers on accessing and maintaining health insurance, and provide space to share and discuss stories about obstacles encountered in getting care. Topics can include health insurance confidentiality, concerns of youth and young adults as well as those of older folks, awareness of subsidized health care coverage. and issues for people who are undocumented. The workshop facilitators will share their work with the state's PrEP, nPEP, and HIV drug assistance programs.

Options for breast augmentation will be discussed and demonstrated including choice of incisions, shape and size of implant, saline versus silicone, placement of implants above or below the muscle, etc. Dr. Leis will also discuss his technique of one-stage vaginoplasty utilizing the penile inversion technique, neo-clitoris construction, and scrotal skin graft to increase vaginal depth. Recent cases will be demonstrated to show the natural results obtained with these techniques.

This facilitated group discussion is open to all, but is intended to be a space for people with disabilities to discuss a broad cross section of issues from how our identities as trans people intersect with our being disabled. How do we integrate those two into our well being, especially when interacting with various health care providers? We will explore what the concept of access means in broad political social justice terms and explore how the transgender civil rights/human rights movement has/has not made space for those who are disabled. We will explore what it means to be disabled in a world obsessed with denial of those who are disabled and how we, as disabled trans people, struggle to be confident, self-assured human beings in the face of these challenges.

Options for FTM Top Surgery will be presented and variety of cases will demonstrate excellent results in masculinization of the chest. Options for Phalloplasty will also be discussed. Dr. Leis will utilize multiple case presentations to demonstrate superior aesthetic results obtainable utilizing abdominal or groin flaps for Phalloplasty, labial deconstruction for Scrotoplasty and the options of testicular and penile implants. This surgery is done in one stage and results in a sensate penis via clitoral transposition, no obvious deformity of the donor site such as occurs in the forearm flap procedure, and the ability to have sexual intercourse with erotic sensation

This workshop is designed for people who are considering one or more gender affirming surgeries. A nurse and social worker who work in a gender surgery center will present the most common eligibility guidelines for various surgical procedures and explain how and what you may be expected to prepare before attending a surgical consult. During this workshop, the providers will discuss WPATH guidelines, insurance coverage (focusing on New England), letters, hair removal, and other aspects of getting ready to undergo top or bottom surgery. They will also answer questions about getting ready for surgery, what the consult process is like, and recovery from different procedures. Interested in attending? Please bring questions! Prepared questions should focus on general surgical issues (how do I get coverage for hair removal?) rather than individual medical concerns. The providers will not be providing medical advice during the workshop.
2:00P A Healthy, Happy Sex Life - HIV and STI Risk in the Transgender Community Wellness Program Dr. Robert Goldstein Sterling

In a joint presentation between the MGH Transgender Health Program and MGH Sexual Health Clinic, we will discuss the risk for HIV and other STIs in the transgender community, as well as ways to prevent and treat infections. There will be a focus on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for those at risk, as well as resources for free testing and treatment centers that can provide gender affirming sexual health care. Attendees will hear from social workers, nurses and physicians who are providing care to transgender and non-binary individuals in the community.

He will discuss a variety of options for feminizing facial features and demonstrate that in the majority of cases, excellent results can be obtained without extensive and expensive cranio-facial surgery. Cases are shown demonstrating excellent and natural results from selective and customized facial feminization procedures.
